Massage Near Ham Lake, Andover and Forest Lake: How a Visit at 5D Works

If you have been typing "massage Ham Lake MN" or "massage near Andover" into your phone, here's the short version: 5D Wellness is in East Bethel, right on Highway 65, and a visit is easier to plan than most people expect. Neighbors from Ham Lake, Andover and Forest Lake book with us, and the questions are usually the same. How do I get on the schedule? What happens first? What do I wear? What do I say to the therapist?

This is a plain walk through the visit from start to finish. We don't quote drive times. They shift with traffic and the season. Put our address in your map app and you will see the number from your own door.

Booking a massage near Ham Lake

You can book online, or call or text (612) 322-9989. A membership is not needed to schedule a massage, so a first visit is just an appointment on the calendar.

We are at 18447 Highway 65 NE, Suite C, East Bethel, MN 55011. The front desk is staffed seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Use the booking page to pick a day and a length.

Plans change, so know the timing rules first. If you need to cancel or reschedule, give us at least 24 hours notice. A late cancellation or a missed appointment carries a $30 fee charged to the card on file. If you run late on the day, your session may be shortened so the next person starts on time. Leave a cushion for the drive, especially on winter mornings when Highway 65 moves slower.

The 30-minute sauna first

This is the part that sets a visit at 5D apart. Each 60 and 90 minute massage includes a 30-minute sauna session before it. You don't add it on or ask for it. It's part of the appointment.

The sauna is a private, full-spectrum infrared sauna with red light built into the walls. You spend the half hour warm and quiet, then head to the massage room. We suggest at least 30 minutes of sauna before your massage, so plan to arrive a few minutes early to change and settle in.

A few easy things to bring: a water bottle, a hair tie if you need one, and something comfortable to wear afterward. Loose clothing makes the whole visit simpler. If you have questions about how the sauna works for a first-timer, call or text and we will walk you through it.

What the massage menu looks like

All of our massages are given by licensed massage therapists. The massage page lists the options:

  • Swedish
  • Deep tissue
  • Specialized pressure
  • Prenatal
  • Cranial and sinus drainage
  • Empathic

Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes, and each one is tailored to you. If you are not sure where to start, our write-up on Swedish vs. deep tissue is a good first read. CBD oil is available as an add-on if you want it.

Not sure about length? Plenty of first-timers choose 60 minutes. If you know you like a slower pace, 90 minutes gives your therapist more room to take their time.

In the room: what to wear and what to say

Wear loose clothing to your appointment and take off any jewelry. In the room, you undress only to the point that is comfortable for you. You will be covered with a sheet and your therapist uncovers only the area being worked on.

Your therapist will ask a few quick questions. Tell them your preferences:

  • Music, silence, or conversation
  • Scented or unscented oil
  • The kind of touch you like, light or firm

That last one matters most. Harvard Health puts it simply: be sure to tell your therapist the type of touch you prefer, and massage does not have to be painful to be worth doing. Lighter pressure is a perfectly good choice, and some people find deep tissue work uncomfortable.

Your therapist can't feel what you feel. Your feedback guides the session. Cleveland Clinic advises speaking up if the pressure feels like pain instead of working a tender spot, and sharing any sensitive areas. We have a full guide on how to speak up about pressure if you want a few phrases ready.

Also share anything that could change the session: past injuries, allergies, recent illnesses, or medication changes. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, check with your healthcare provider before you book.

After the massage

When the hour is up, take your time getting dressed. Drink water or an electrolyte drink and eat something decent. Then go easy on the rest of the day if you can, and skip the hard workout.

Mild soreness the next day is common. Cleveland Clinic notes it usually lasts a few hours to about a day and a half, and feels like the day after a workout. If you have intense soreness for longer than a couple of days, check in with a healthcare provider. Tell your therapist next time so they can adjust. For more, read what to do after a massage.

Tipping your therapist is encouraged, if that fits your budget.

Your next step

If you live in Ham Lake, Andover or Forest Lake and have been meaning to get on a massage table, the visit is simple: choose 60 or 90 minutes, arrive a little early for the 30-minute sauna, tell your therapist how you like pressure, and drink water on your way out. Pick a time on the booking page or call or text (612) 322-9989.
